Cycling

So with almost everything borrowed, the hubs and me went to join the masses for some open road cycling.

With good weather, the 20km ride that we signed up for was truly a breeze with wonderful sights and skyline to enjoy.

I really enjoyed it as it was well organized and safe.

It was the cycling bit from home to the F1 pit and back that wasn’t so fun. Singapore’s narrow roads and drivers just don’t get along with cyclists.

Cycling and butt pain

We enjoy cycling along the East coast Park Connectors to Changi village, past the various beaches and parks etc.

But I tell you, our butts really hurts after the 12km.  I need serious cushioning on my behind! Maybe one of those padded tights? But they are expensive.

Wear a thick pad? hahahaha

Cure for headaches?

I had over the span of 3 days last week, an irritating, dull throbbing headache that randomly appeared on and off and gave me a lot of grief, than on the 3rd day, I went for yoga and did a couple of downward dogs…and the headache disappeared!

I guess it’s all that blood rushing to the head? But the next time I get a spiltting headache, am going to try a few DWDs first before doing any pill popping.

For the love of yoga

My dog loves my yoga mat.

Whenever I pull out the mat to attempt some stretching or poses…he charges up and plonks himself down either in the center of the mat or anywhere under you, on the mat…no matter how much you shove him, lure him away with food, he never budges.

Yup, I think maybe he wants to teach me the proper way to do the downward dog…

Passion?

It was supposed to be a 10km run…but according to my bil’s friend who tracked the route with his gps, it was an 11.5km run.

hmgf…my right arch hurts, and my creaky knees are aching.

argh, when will I learn to be more discipline and keep at running on a regular basis to avoid all these aches and pain?

update: run time was 01:16:18 :(

Creaky Knees

Whenever I squat, my knees creak. During yoga class, when we are doing sun salutations, everyone laughs when we lunge or hop back to front coz my knees will be creaking LOUDLY.  I feel like the Ironman (which by the way is a great movie) unoiled :)

A Sneeze=Backsprain=Yoga

A couple of months ago, I got up in the early morning to prepare for the work day ahead. It was chilly and I sneezed.

Once.

That sneeze caused me to jerk forward violently and I immediately felt an acute pain on my lower back. Apparently I had sprain a muscle and I was lucky according to the doctor that it was just a muscle sprain. There are many who actually slip a disc!

After a couple of days, my muscle healed and I was no longer in any pain. However that incident gave me a scare and made me realise how weak my back was. The usual exercises like running, cycling etc wasn’t giving me the necessary muscle conditioning for the entire body.

So with a friend’s recommendation, I went for a trial yoga class at International Yoga Centre (IYC) Loved that the class size was kept small, allowing for personal attention by the teacher and most importantly, I was really working out muscles that I never knew existed all through non-impact, fluid stretches…I felt really good, relaxed, limber and energized after each session. I used to poo poo yoga, saying that it was for old ladies only *oops* I have to eat my words now. Now I hope I am disciplined enough to keep working at it and hopefully progress one day to be able to a headstand….er, maybe not, let’s go for the touch the toes first. :)
