I see nothin

I went down to Boat Quay yesterday with the intention of enjoying the Singapore Art’s Festival’s Water Fool,  the much talked about opening performance.

BUT the crowds were incredible! People were all packed like sardines at the waterfront areas and unless you were super incredibly tall, there was no way you could see anything.

boo

But at least all was not lost for the evening. We did have tickets to watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull so we were entertained for a bit. But the movie wasn’t that great? Maybe coz so much of it was trying to follow the style of the other Indie movies that everything was kinda predictable?

Messy hair days

I tend to take a shower later in the evenings and that results in me having wet hair when I head to bed.

Not good.

I wake up with what HL calls the ”chicken backside” hair style that screams MESS!

My hair will be shooting off in all sorts of directions and nothing can tame it! No amount of water, hair mousse etc can rectify the mess. Even tying it results in a wild pony tail. My hair has a life of its own.

So…am contemplating buying a hair straightener. Apparently my sister has the exact same prob as me (bad genes?) and she claims that a hair straightener has done wonders for her….and so, I started to look around for one.

BUT I have been put off by the prices of these things! It’s amazingly expensive *I thought*. I can cheerfully part with $75 for a mop but $75-$150 for a hair staightener? And apparently after some researching on the internet, so called good hair straighteners like GHD that don’t burn, damage, heat fast and well, don’t pull your hair etc etc can cost up to USD300+!!!

erm…let me see how much bonus I get this year ba…anyways, I have lived all my life without owning a hair dryer, no hair straightener isn’t going to affect me one little bit. But yeah, the beauty business is sure one big money making system.

www.alltop.com

I have been using this site called Alltop for a while and I love the idea, functionality and ease use:

“You can think of an Alltop site as a “digital magazine rack” of the Internet. To be clear, Alltop sites are starting points—they are not destinations per se. The bottom line is that we are trying to enhance your online reading by both displaying stories from the sites that you’re already visiting and helping you discover sites that you didn’t know existed. In other words, our goal is the “cessation of Internet stagnation” by providing “aggregation without aggravation.”

My Favourite Family Routine

From the soundtrack of The Sound of Music, Maria singing about her favourite things:

“ Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things…

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.”

One of my favourite things is to go to the beach with my family on Sundays. Better still if it is secluded and unpeopled so that I can let my dog run off-leash. Sitting by the beach with the fams, hot coffee in our flasks, strawberries in the cooler…life is good when there’s wind ruffling your hair, sand on your feet, water in the horizon for dips and family to whinge and laugh with.

Creaky Knees

Whenever I squat, my knees creak. During yoga class, when we are doing sun salutations, everyone laughs when we lunge or hop back to front coz my knees will be creaking LOUDLY.  I feel like the Ironman (which by the way is a great movie) unoiled :)
