We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
A couple of months ago, I got up in the early morning to prepare for the work day ahead. It was chilly and I sneezed.
Once.
That sneeze caused me to jerk forward violently and I immediately felt an acute pain on my lower back. Apparently I had sprain a muscle and I was lucky according to the doctor that it was just a muscle sprain. There are many who actually slip a disc!
After a couple of days, my muscle healed and I was no longer in any pain. However that incident gave me a scare and made me realise how weak my back was. The usual exercises like running, cycling etc wasn’t giving me the necessary muscle conditioning for the entire body.
So with a friend’s recommendation, I went for a trial yoga class at International Yoga Centre (IYC) Loved that the class size was kept small, allowing for personal attention by the teacher and most importantly, I was really working out muscles that I never knew existed all through non-impact, fluid stretches…I felt really good, relaxed, limber and energized after each session. I used to poo poo yoga, saying that it was for old ladies only *oops* I have to eat my words now. Now I hope I am disciplined enough to keep working at it and hopefully progress one day to be able to a headstand….er, maybe not, let’s go for the touch the toes first. ![]()
An online diary of sorts...frivolous, causal and about things that I like or interest me...it's not to be taken too seriously as life is just too short.
