What is Important?

As the end of the year looms, I sort of wonder where the heck did the entire year go to?? It’s over, all too soon and before you know it, a brand new year is starting and you are making new year resolutions, new lists, new things-to-do and learn…the cycle repeats.

Life is really too short to be muddling around with no objectives or idea of what you want…and yet, what I want is so frivolous and shallow (e.g. having so much $$$ that I don’t need to work, be a full time tai tai etc) that I think it doesn’t count as an important value/principle in life. right?

So after some sort of a deliberation, I have come to a decision that I should learn to grow myself…meaning that I should try to really learn to live in this world and connect with the various situations, relationships that I enter or come into…learn from them and grow.

To grow in kindness
To grow in physical and spritual strength
To grow in daylight and not in a cubicle

Power Jaw and Razor Teeth

Beware the lightning fast reflexes, turbo-powered jaw and razor sharp teeth of Mr Kingsley.

Check out what he did to Shanni’s car!

Baptism by Fire

Tested out the blades at East Coast Park on Christmas Eve despite the onset of rain and it was the best weather ever! Cool breeze, no sun, very little people and bicycles on the pathways allowed for a great environment for a beginner like me to blade safely.

Of course I fell as a I was nearing the down slope…the best part was I hadn’t even reached the start of the slope before falling *so fail* Lucky Shanni and her doggie Kingsley was around to guide me through the rest of the slope….no matter what she says, it was a damn steep slope! kekeke….

But I must say, border collies are super action packed dogs! 2 borders, Kingsley and Kaiser were running alongside their owners at East Coast for the entire distance and they were not even winded! No wonder they are famous for their herding, hardworking characteristics.

Stuffed!

I am soooo stuffed! Christmas hasn’t actually started yet and already there are major makan sessions going on. After a brunch thingee at my place on the 23rd till late afternoon, I headed over to a friend’s place for BBQ…I ate sooo much that I am still burping!

The highlight of the night was this Marriot log cake that was super nice…it was half chocolate and half strawberry…that damn cake (very small) was close to a hundred bucks *gosh* but it was sooo great. I am not a cake lover, but this log was good…not too sweet, quality chocolate, huge ass strawberries and blackcurrents…little cream.

After that, for Christmas eve dinner it over to my sister’s place where we had turkey, lamb, pork ribs, cream of mushroom soup, spinach bread, green tea cake, brownies, jasmine tea later for siao hua of stomach. We were soooo stuffed!

I am currently in the toilet as I am typing this entry out on my laptop. All that food has to go somewhere right?

No turning back

I just invested like 300 bucks on a pair of inline skates! It’s a lot of money and I better make sure I use them oft enough to get back full ROI!

Was debating for the longest time whether I should:

a) continue to try and use my dad’s pair of blades which are waaay too big. (But they are a good pair)

b) rent the correct sizes from rental shops as and when. (but they stink and oft the wheels don’t roll well)

So since there was Christmas sales going on at the skate shops…I succumbed.

I tried to get the prettiest coloured ones *so much for research and getting the most appropriate pair for your level and intention*…but but due to the 30-35% sale going on… most of the pretty pink ones were sold out! *damnit*

Anyway, the ones I got are still quite girly and all *bimbo alert*…let’s hope I can stay on them without falling and flailing around tooo much.

Corrinne May

Just bought a cd by Corrinne May titled Safe in a Crazy World and I love it! Her songs are heartfelt, genuine and so evocative.

Am loving this particular song:

Everything in its time

Sometimes i wonder what lies ahead
How long til my hunger is fed
They say it’s hard to make it in this part of town
so many people on this merry-go-round

Some folks try astrology
Some turn to crystal balls
To find an answer
To get through it all
I just fall on my knees and i try to pray
in the silence i can hear Him say

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign
Everything in its time

I often feel like that i’m two steps behind
Somebody must have moved that finish line
There are a thousand reasons
why i should give up
But i’m stubborn in the things i believe

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to the patience and watch for the sign

’cause maybe there’s another plan
One i still cant see
A little surprise, like your love in your life
Funny how time changes how we see

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to the patience and watch for the sign

Everything in its time
Everything in its time

New Gadget!

Yay, after lots of drama I finally got myself the K800i Sony Ericsson phone plus change telco providers. Am now using M1. No complaints so far and I am happy with their service.

It’s amazing how far the mobile phone has come…from a simple calling and recieving of calls to encompassing new technolgies like bluetooth, 3G, camera, messaging, mp3, wi-fi etc with the devices growing smaller and smaller in size!… the growing affordability of these communication products are really changing the media landscape.

Even these days, the libraries are using bluetooth and other slick new media formats and technology to market themselves. But I love my gadgets so I am not complaining.

PS: btw, product placement in the new James Bond movie, “Casino Royale” was also a major factor in me getting the K800i as opposed to the w710i that i was eyeing. Women are such suckers.

Reunion

My JC Civics Tutor is leaving to Cairns for semi-retirement and it was a great opportunity for the A2 gang to meet up.
I had such a great time catching up with everyone and it was so fantastic to see how everyone has moved on in different ways and phases in life and yet how we still remained connected somehow in our various quirky ways :)
I really miss my JC life…hehehe

Problem with my Comments

Yup, I know a few of you have tried to comment on my posts and it doesn’t work.

I recently started my blog on the beta version and that’s when the problems started…I hope they eventually sort it out… (please be patient) if not I will have to start using another template or something…let’s see how it goes.
