CNY and Prawns

I ate soOOOoooOOoo much during the CNY period. Mum cooked lots of good food and even passed me lots of food to bring home to cook too! *yum*

I loved that we had a straight 4 days of nuaing this year…it’s promising to be a good year so far!

Anyway check out the MONSTER prawns that we had during the reunion dinner. Please note that 2 prawns alone has filled up the entire plate!

Despite being allergic, HL was obviously enjoying his MONSTER prawns. I think he ate like 5 of those *sigh*

Spring Cleaning Part II

After we changed the bedsheets…Humphrey thinks he can sneak himself under the comforter and not get noticed…however his spy mode needs a lot more work.

Spring Cleaning?

er…suppose to do some spring cleaning today in preparation for CNY….but after changing bedsheets, our nose got so irritated by the dust that all the rest of the plans to wash curtains, mop floor, clean windows got pushed off till “for later”

Picture Perfect

My cousin visited us from Klang the other day and after her visit…I needed two days to recover from Inayyah.

Inayyah at that time was about 20 months old and the cutest girl ever. She was smart, pretty and had loads of personality. Did I also mention that she was waaay fitter than any of the adults and she outlasted all of us hands down. At 12 am in the night, she was still going strong!

What childhood toy from the 80s are you?

You’re a Speak & Spell!! You nerd, you. Just because you were disguised as a toy doesn’t mean you weren’t educational, you sneaky bastard.

Johor Bahru

We had a little outing to JB with some colleagues and a bunch of our student assistants from the polytechnic. All the student assistants that we employ are international students from Mynmar, China, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia so heading down to JB was sort of a treat for some of them.

The agenda for the trip was Makan and Shop. Both of which we did lots. Of course, all sorts of drama things happened on the trip….a group got lost and ended up in another mall in JB itself; I brought Thai Bhat instead of Ringgit!! and tried to foist it off at FOS; a couple due to language difficulties got the names of Khatib and Kranji MRT mixed up and waited at the wrong station etc…. But at the end of the day, we all had fun and we learnt lots of new things about each other’s culture, language etc.

It was my first truly MULTI-cultural experience ever.

Reading…

Am currently reading this compliation of 15 short fantasy stories by Canadian writer Charles De Lint. A wonderful read so far…imaginative with memorable characters that go through trials and tribulation to learn wisdom, kindness, growth, love etc…

A good happy book to sit in bed and curl up with.

Klang

My mum’s from Klang.

So over Christmas, the entire family (which has expanded from 4 peops to 6) headed back to Klang to spend some time with my mum’s side of the family. It was really fun, not to mention noisy. 70 over people under 1 roof is no laughing matter.

But I was glad to have made the trip coz there was lots of
catching up to do, with uncles, aunties, cousins; some new
nieces & nephews to take a look and gush over and of course to show myself to my grandma who is not getting any younger.

All in all, an eventful and fun trip…and oh, did I mention that I also got to eat the world’s biggest pao? Check out the Dolly Partons of the world.
