Online Shopping
Next to weboggle, I love online shopping.
Being able to browse a multitude of shops and items at the click of the mouse without breaking a sweat, to be able to do detailed price and product comparisons without over eager sales personnel hanging over you and of course the excitement of recieving parcels right at your doorstep…
Of course online shopping is not without its risks…you have to be aware of the various security features out there and shop only from reputable web retailers…
It was during the exam periods when I took a couple of days of leave from work to study that I discovered the joys of ebaying….the cheap thrills derived from hunting around for bargains and the bidding process is addictive! Most of the time you don’t even need the item that you are bidding for….but just because it’s so damn cheap……harharhahrhar, like I said, online shopping is not without (financial) risk to one’s pocket.

What to buy?

I am thinking of getting an mp3 player…and some enterprising students have a consignmnet arrangement with Creative, ipod and iriver where they are able to give staff and students a small discount on any of the mp3 players.
I wanted something that is decently priced, ultra portable, uses normal AA or AAA batteries and with RADIO…in the end my decision was not difficult. Decided to get an iriver at $198 which boasted all the features that I wanted plus great sound quality to boot.
I just placed an order with one of the enterprising students…

How to…
Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade is a hilarious book! Guy Browning has invaluable advice for all of us in every conceivable situation. Here’s an excerpt from “How to… control the duvet”
” In the modern world, the phrase ‘Who’s wearing the trousers?’ should be updated to ‘Who’s hogging the duvet?’ Control of the duvet is the front line in the struggle for power in any bed-based relationship.
Moving very slowly an steadily into the middle of the bed gets you more of the crucial central duvet. This can be done with any number of ruses, the most common one being cuddling. It’s great having a cuddle in the middle of the bed, but sooner or later someone has to roll away. Make sure your partner does the rolling by giving them a playful shove in the right direction.
The holy grail of duvet management is if you can somehow secure it to prevent slippage. If there is a little bit of spare duvet, you can tuck it under your body and create a tight sleeping-bag effect around you. With a normal size duvet, this tight sleeping-bag effect generally creates a loose outdoor effect for your partner, so don’t expect it to last.
A more desperate approach uses the buttons on the bottom of your duvet. You can swivel the duvet around so that the button end is alongside you and then button the duvet into your pyjamas. This will prevent driftage and also in the event of a massive tug by your partner, will make sure you stay attached to the duvet wherever it ends up.
A nasty underhand method of duvet retention is used where the duvet cover is bigger than the duvet itself. In this case there is always a flappy bit of cover that doesn’t actually have any duvet inside. Postition this flappy, empty bit over your partner and the plump, well-stuffed bit over yourself.
Getting up to go to the loo is an admission of defeat in the duvet wars. All the duvet and warm air you’ve patiently acquired immediately revert to your partner. When you get back, you’ll be left with the flappy, empty cover. You then have to start something called duvet-winching……”

Dim Sum Dollies
Went to watch Dim Sum Dollies at the esplanade theatre on the opening night. Loved the amazingly fast costume changes, poking fun at the various Singapore Icons and the blatant slamming of Durai’s $600,000 salary. All in all a very Singaporean play with its rojak language and food court aunty issues….
Just didn’t appreciate the singing of the Singapore national anthem and various “love singapore” songs at the end of the play. HUH??
